Carnival of the Decline of Democracy - 2.9

Welcome to the Carnival of the Decline of Democracy, Edition 2.9 - Blogging 'till the secret police take us away.

Carnival of the Decline of Democracy First off, I'd like to give a huge thanks to John over at Hell's Handmaiden for hosting the last edition of the carnival while I was out in the desert contemplating life (and drinking heavily). So... on with today's show...

Sean J. Vaughan starts us off with Still Happy to Be American: a Kurt Vonnegut Tribute posted at Reason and Rhyme.

Jason Kirk presents The Effects of Uncle Sam's Intrusions Into Your Daughter's Underpants: Negligible! posted at Brick Cheney.

Vlad Popescu presents rethink: subliminal eye candy [Made in China] posted at sign on the broken line..

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Serenade For The First Sufferers (Political Song Parody) posted at Mad Kane's Political Madness.

In a final word, I would like to put in my own short mention of the loss of a great American, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., who passed away just over a week ago. He recognized and wrote about our declining democracy like nobody else, in ways poignant, laughable, and maddening all at once. He saw the stupidity of human interaction, got angry, and then still found a reason to make a joke about it. Said Kurt:
"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward."
The next edition of the Carnival will be posted on Monday, May 14th, 2007 with entries requested by Saturday, May 12th, at midnight.
